It’s time to pay respects to our fellow brethren known as Ghetto People. You see ghetto people everywhere whether you choose to acknowledge them or not. In fact you can’t help but to notice Ghetto People because often times they stand out like herpes due to their gaudy jewelry from the swap meet, flamboyant hairstyles, rowdy language, or clothes that are either too tight, six sizes too big, or down right inappropriate for the occasion. Either way, this blog will help you understand ghetto people in the event you have to interact with them since they will never go away. But do you really want Ghetto People to go away? They make life interesting for all the boring folks out there. This blog will be an educational tool to understand the mindset of Ghetto People and the ridiculousness that ensues in their everyday lives. JJ you seem to be operating under the assumption that we white people have things handed to us. This is NOT the case. I am one of 3 sons of a single woman who held down 3 jobs while we were growing up. She worked her butt off to support us and taught us how to be self sufficient.

I own my own home at the age of 30, not because I made it to 18 and went to the “white people bank” and got my free money and power, but because I worked my ass off in menial jobs until I could afford to go to college.

Your mother must have been quite a woman to raise three boys by herself. She must have been single by her own volition seeing as its unlikely that her mate was killed by gang violence, a stray bullet, a police officer or heart disease rampant amongst his race because of the low quality, cleanliness and nutritional value of the food sold by the large corporations who operate their lower-class, low quality franchises in his neighborhood.
How nice it was that you were able to find a job you could work at 50-60 hours a week! I think it’s so lovely that you were able to find work! Especially in an America that practices institutionalized economic racism by allowing corporations to keep their business and investments out of “high-risk” neighborhoods filled with minorities and immigrants and the poor! And there was work! No high-unemployment rates in your neighborhood, no floundering local business that can’t afford you!
Also nice someone hired you! Congratulations even for a “menial” job! That’s not something just anyone can do! I’m sure you didn’t have to worry about your boss judging you for your race or above that even the tone of your skin! How nice for you never had to worry about looking too niggerish.
And you speak English! I bet you worked really hard at that. Or maybe you were lucky enough to have American parents who spoke English already and could teach you! And I’m sure even in the womb they too must have worked really HARD to DESERVE to be born north of the Mexican border. Good for them too.
It probably helped that you must have never had any felonies. You never made any mistakes as a young man. You probably didn’t feel a tinge of fear every time you saw a cop car, even if you haven’t committed a crime. You didn’t have to deal with the fear and knowledge that people get murdered by the police every day just for “looking suspicious” (looking black). You were never illegally or unfairly targeted or apprehended by the police based on your perceived “suspiciousness”! I bet you never even batted an eyelash at the black-and-white, how nice for you!
Oh and you can afford a car. Did you buy it yourself!? I’m so proud of you. I hope there are black people in the world looking up to your example. Who knows how many of them could have the brains to even attempt such a feat! Kudos.
Oh and college! Your high school must have adequately prepared you for college, what a blessing. I’m sure you worked very hard to place yourself in a neighborhood that resides in a school district which can provide adequate funding for school supplies, sports teams, competent teacher and rigorous testing to prepare you for college!
and it would have been even more of a blessing if you didn’t have to worry about feeding yourself or your family, or taking care of your siblings while your mother was working all those jobs, or being shot while walking to school, or being raped while walking home. Or being beaten and tasered and shot by police officers who must have mistaken you for a criminal because he looked just like you and you reached into your pocket and the officers could have sworn you were going to pull out a gun or something and you live in a bad neighborhood you must have been a gangster or a dug dealer or something anyways. Extreme and immediate Force had to be exercised right?
Yeah I bet now having all those worries must have made it a lot easier to study.
It must have been easy for you to get a loan too! Especially since the odds are against you looking like you might be a ‘terrorist’ or a ‘gangster’ or an ‘illegal’ or any one of ‘them’.
And a home. A HOME. You know that’s what most Americans dream of? A home? A place of your own to house you and your family? Land that can’t be STOLEN from you, a safe place where your children can’t be TAKEN from you? A place where you are free to work and provide for yourself and not SLAVE to satisfy someone else? Skin color has nothing to do with it in B-more. There are plenty of regular African-American people who are just trying to go about their business and get ahead in life like everyone else. Some people say ghetto is not race or culture but you can clearly see that most of the images are back people.
